Stay With Me, Under My Coat
2018, Watercolour and Watercolour Pencils on A4
Originally for a poster for a concert of the same name, by Leeds Guild of Singers. The line is taken from Samuel Barber's version of 'The Coolin', a setting of James Stephens' text, translated from a poem by Irish poet Antoine Ó Raifteiri.

Here, I've set the lovers in Autumn, trying to give a sense of the movement of the wind around them. I've left them quite gender non-specific: this could be any couple, sheltering under the one coat.

The coat makes them seem as one and we see them only from behind in their private moment, reflected on the wet path. I imagine they're talking to each other as they walk away.
